WAR
(Michael Mazzarella)

We fought a war the way they fought the war
At Valley Forge it crippled and it maimed
We asked for more we had no bayonets but words
That tore the flesh around the heart completely

We crossed our swords comparing wins and losses
The scoreboard was bloody from the night before the war
While tolling death bell warning soiled the floor
With personal attacks exploding

Of mice and men of love and hate and war and peace
The end is simply a white flag away we knew no victory
Could be achieved but through the torture of each other
We died
